Kirsi Svärd talks designJune 4th, 2009 The new Oras Hydra product family was made public on 14-May-2009. In conjunction with the publicaton, the newspaper Turun Sanomat featured Design Director Kirsi Svärd's views on design.
 Svärd states that regard for sustainable development has always been a part of Industrial Designers' profession.
"There is a demand for sustainable products. Disposable products are starting to be a thing of the past."
Svärd goes on to say that nowadays, companies are more and more environmentally aware. Recyclability and minimizing material costs are recorded into product requirements at the very beginning of the development process. "And it is not just a sales gimmick. The issue is important for companies because it is economically a smart thing to do."
